Convergence insufficiency is a binocular vision condition where the eyes struggle to turn inward together for close work. It affects around one in twenty school aged children and is a common cause of eye strain, headaches and losing your place while reading. Standard vision screenings usually miss it, because distance vision is often perfectly normal. A full binocular vision assessment is what identifies it.

What it is: the eyes have difficulty maintaining inward alignment at near, so extra effort is needed to keep a single clear image
