Paediatric Eye Examinations

Specialised eye examinations for infants, toddlers, and school-age children.

Children's Eye Examinations

Children's vision develops rapidly in the first years of life, and many vision problems go undetected because children don't know what 'normal' vision looks like. Our optometrists are experienced in assessing children of all ages, including pre-verbal toddlers, and creating a relaxed, child-friendly experience.

What you should know?

  • Recommended ages: first exam before starting school; annually through primary and high school

  • What we check: visual acuity, eye alignment, focusing ability, binocular vision, colour vision. First examination will require cycloplegic eyedrops

  • Common conditions detected: myopia (short-sightedness), amblyopia (lazy eye), strabismus (eye turn), astigmatism

  • Bulk billed for children with a valid Medicare card

  • Our rooms are designed to be child-friendly and stress-free
