Optional Testing
Some appointments may include additional procedures. Where required, our team will advise you in advance.
1. Dilated Retinal Examination Not routinely performed at an initial consultation, but occasionally required for urgent clinical reasons. Allow approximately 1 hour for this procedure. Your vision will be temporarily blurred and light-sensitive — driving is not recommended for 2–3 hours afterwards. Please bring sunglasses and arrange alternative transport if needed.
2. Contact Lens Teach Consultation Before attending, please trim and file your fingernails. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and dry them using an air dryer or lint-free towel.
3. Cycloplegic Refraction A specialised procedure used to measure refractive error accurately by applying eye drops that temporarily relax the focusing muscles. Allow 1.5–2 hours for this appointment. Vision will be blurred and light-sensitive for approximately 24 hours — driving is not recommended. Sunglasses are strongly advised to reduce glare and discomfort.
4. Binocular Vision Assessment A comprehensive evaluation of how your eyes work together, assessing focus, eye movement, coordination, and visual processing. Allow approximately 1 hour for this assessment. No preparation is required beforehand. If you have been referred by another specialist or optometrist, please bring any relevant referral letters or reports.
If you are interested in ongoing vision therapy following your assessment, please let our optometrist know — vision therapy consultations are available at $90 per session.
